Our approach to sustainability

Frisur is a personal project and therefore a reflection of our values – we treat our surroundings with respect by aiming for substantial quality.

Therefore, working in a sustainable manner is a defining element in our doing. But we believe that this topic is not such a black and white picture as it is sometimes being painted. Out of our experience, there are many possible ways to follow, and let’s be honest – all of them have their pros and cons.

We work with a huge diversity of materials and whilst our products inherit some overall values such as responsible collaborations, short travel routes and most importantly long-lasting products, all of them are developed individually, using different fabrics, trimmings and treatments, we can’t just put one label on everything.

As the matter of sustainability is too important and too complex at the same time, we believe in transparency. Along every single product we offer, we communicate its specific sustainable aspects, using the icons shown below.
This way, our customers are empowered to make their own informed decision, following their individual beliefs.

Sustainability Key

We believe in mutual respect and trustful relationships with our skilled and experienced manufacturers. By regularly visiting our production partners we are able to closely support their work – and since we only collaborate with suppliers within the EU, we can ensure controlled working standards in all our factories.

Our garments are made from only the best materials we can find; mindfully designed and manufactured to outlast seasonal trends. Assembled with skilled workmanship and experience, they offer a conscious and long-lasting alternative to carelessly harmful products. It is out of respect for our customers that we are driven to create products of substantial quality.

Determined to minimize our carbon footprint, we focus on natural and cellulose fibres that do not derive from petrochemicals. And due to short travel routes to our EU-only partners, we are able to maintain low CO2-emission.

Items tagged with this icon solely use fabric consisting of natural fibres only and can be composted.

The garments of each product showing this icon are made from eco-friendly cultivated cotton only.

Manufactured only from controlled wood sources and produced with significantly lower fossil energy and water, EcoVero™ viscose poses as a sustainable alternative to common viscose fibre, whilst keeping all its beautiful traits like the elegant drape, the silky soft touch and its typical subtle lustre.

Products marked with this icon are entirely made without any consumption of animal products.

Items marked that make use of wool, a durable and versatile fibre. Wool is breathable and stain-repellent by nature. Fewer washings save resources and its naturally breathable property make it a beautiful material to wear all-year around.

Considered the most sustainable material on the current market, this cellulose fibre reverts back to nature with an overall recycling rate of 99.5%. And by remaining odour-free for multiple wearings it also needs fewer washings and enables saving on water and energy.

Garments showing this icon contain natural linen. This highly absorbent fibre is valued for its exceptional cooling quality and due to its durability this material allows for light and breathable summer fabrics, which stay intact even through multiple washings.
